A hearty take on traditional Inari sushi! Filled with chewy mochi, this recipe is super easy to make and is hearty enough for lunch or a snack when you're craving something filling. Soy sauce harmonizes beautifully with the slightly-sweet aburaage "inari" pouches, making you go back for more! Quick, vegan, and budget-friendly.

When scaling the recipe, the ratios of some ingredients may require slight adjustments. Adjust as necessary and season to taste.
- A2 aburaage fried tofu pouches
- A4 kirimochi rice cakes
- B1.5tbsp mirin
- B1.5tbsp soy sauce (If using dark soy sauce, add 1 tbsp. water))
- B1tbsp sugar
DIRECTIONS
- 1
Cut a slit in the aburaage like in the video. If they are large, cut them in half. As long as the mochi fits inside, it is fine. If they are hard to open, gently roll them with a stick to loosen the center.

- 2
Sprinkle 1 tbsp. water over the mochi. Microwave at 600W for about 1 minute until a little soft. Heat gradually and check. If the mochi becomes too soft, it will be harder to handle in the next step.

- 3
Place the mochi inside the pouches. Fold the opening closed. Lightly press the tofu onto the mochi so it sticks slightly.

- 4
Mix all of the (B) ingredients together.

- 5
Add oil to a frying pan. Place the sealed side down first. Cook until sealed, then cook all sides until crispy.

- 6
Turn off the heat once. Add the sauce and coat evenly. Simmer until nicely glazed.

Tips & Notes
・The sauce can splatter and burn easily, so cook carefully.
・When serving to small children, make sure to cut them into small pieces and chew thoroughly before swallowing as mochi can pose a choking hazard.
