    3 tbsp mirin

    2 tsp soy sauce

    1 tbsp vegan Japanese Worcestershire sauce or vegan tonkatsu sauce

    kombu dashi powder

    1 tbsp ground sesame seeds
  • 10 2/3 oz Japanese cooked rice
  • N/A shredded cabbage (as much as you like)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preparation
    Mix the ingredientsA oilN/A、Water150-200ml、miso2tbsp、mirin3tbsp、soy sauce2tsp、vegan Japanese Worcestershire sauce or vegan tonkatsu sauce1tbsp、kombu dashi powder5g、ground sesame seeds1tbspbeforehand.

    After draining for 30mins, cut the tofu into half. Coat with flour and dip in the flour and water mixture. Then, cover with panko breadcrumbs.

    Deep-fry the tofu and drain excess oil.

    Heat a pan and place the fried tofu in it.

    Lower the heat and add mixedA oilN/A、Water150-200ml、miso2tbsp、mirin3tbsp、soy sauce2tsp、vegan Japanese Worcestershire sauce or vegan tonkatsu sauce1tbsp、kombu dashi powder5g、ground sesame seeds1tbspand gently coat the tofu evenly.

    Cooking Safety

    Be careful the sauce burns easily because of miso and mirin.

    Serve with Japanese cooked rice and lots of shredded cabbage! Sprinkle with additional sesame seeds, if desired.

Tips & Notes

You can replace the flour with cornstarch or rice flour.
For the breadcrumbs, in Japan we have rice-based panko made from rice flour.
If you can’t find gluten-free breadcrumbs where you live,
frying the tofu with just cornstarch is also delicious.
